Important Update from Lazy Rock – Storm Aftermath

Important Update from Lazy Rock – Storm Aftermath

A suspected tornado swept through our region Saturday night, causing significant damage in several nearby areas. We’re relieved to report that Lazy Rock was not directly impacted — the park remains safe and open. While we did experience some minor storm debris and surface damage, cleanup has already been completed.

That said, the surrounding region was heavily affected, including road damage, temporary closures, and ongoing emergency response efforts. Portions of Highway 17 were closed but have since reopened, and as of now, there are no active closures along any major routes to the park.

To support our guests during this time, we are temporarily allowing RVers to run generators from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, especially during a heat wave, and we truly appreciate your patience.
If you have medical needs that require cold storage or similar accommodations, please let us know — we’ll do everything we can to help.

Shower & Washroom Update:
Two of our three showers will have hot water during the following windows:
8:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
These facilities receive some natural light, but we recommend bringing a flashlight. Washrooms will also remain without lighting, so please come prepared.

Hydro One has been working hard to restore power across the region. While many of our neighbors have been reconnected, we are now back in a holding pattern awaiting reassessment. At this time, no firm restoration estimate is available — but we’re confident we’ll be back to normal soon thanks to their ongoing efforts.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re here to help.
