Welcome to Lazy Rock

We would love to welcome you to our family run campground only 40 minutes from North Bay, Ontario just off the Trans-Canada Hwy 17. 

You will find a total of 39 lakeside & pull-thru RV sites, serviced and unserviced tent sites as well as seasonal sites, RV rental units and our new A-Frame bunkie coming soon. 30amp RV service available with water hookups and a RV dump station upon exiting the park. 

We offer a relaxing atmosphere perfect for the couple looking to take a break from their busy lives and immerse themselves in nature, or the thrill seekers looking to experience all Voyageur Country has to offer! Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboating and swimming on our secluded Taggart Lake, or take in the view from your site.  After a long day, hang out by the campfire and stare up at the stars and milky way so bright they light up the sky.

From the VMUTS multi-use trails to the meeting of the Ottawa and Mattawa rivers, this rich in history gem of a community provides everything you need to experience the outdoors the way nature intended.

We purchased this beautiful piece of property May 2017 and everything has been renovated since; new washrooms, showers, docks, picnic tables and more! Great campground. Good sites, clean and well maintained bathrooms and showers, great staff. We stayed here twice and Kevin was wonderful! Friendly, efficient, funny and with great stories. Backed on a beautiful lake where you can get in some great fishing. Good wifi. Would happily stay here again!

Such an amazing spot to recharge! The owners are amazing, super friendly and very helpful with any questions you may have. The lake is spectacular with great fishing. The bathrooms and showers are the best you will ever encounter in a campground! We are avid provincial park campers but we make it a point to stay here a few times a year since our first visit as it is the BEST private campground out there, you won't be disappointed! Lazy Rock was hands down one of the best places we’ve stayed in all our travels! This small, family run campground has lakeside sites, the most spectacular views, a pet friendly beach, swimming and boat rentals at a very fair cost. The washrooms & showers are very clean. The room service was fantastic! Everything you need is brought to your campsite within 30 minutes! Thank you Jon, Charisma for making our stay so comfortable and Kevin…thank you for all the laughs and for making it so much fun! I highly recommend this place, it was well worth the 4 1/2 hour drive! We will be back!

Lazy Rock is one of those places that everyone needs to stay at, AT LEAST ONCE! The owners are awesome, kind and accommodating. I would recommend this camp ground to everyone. Situated on a "private" lake.. the fishing is fun and great, the air - so fresh, and the area is just overall really beautiful to be in. If I could go camping there everyday (screw work!), I totally would.

This was a wonderful campground. The owners were so accommodating and friendly. They even offer room service to your camper. The showers were squeaky clean with private stalls and the bathrooms were spotless. I would definitely return!

A wonderful camping experience in every respect. The campground is clean with the washrooms kept sparkling clean at all times. Firepits are well spaced and their firewood is top quality hardwood that burns easily for perfect toasted marshmallows. The lake is ideal for kayaking and swimming. Charisma was a fabulous help! We have already booked another visit!

We had another great week at Lazy Rock. It is such a great little campground and the owners are very friendly and helpful. It’s great how they have set up their online room service which can have any items delivered to your campsite in no time. The entire place is clean and quiet. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the lake, hiking local trails and riding the VMUTS. We hope to make it back there next year.

Really Nice Spot! Right off #1, beautiful spot to stay for a night or as long as you want. Called to confirm availability before we went. Caught a couple of Largemouth Bass off dock. Jonathan was great! Anything they sell, they'll deliver to your site. Beautiful bathrooms and showers! Really well done and run camp grounds! Will stay again if we're in the area again! Really NICE FIND!

I come to Lazy Rock twice a year. Always a favorite part of my summer. The setting is beautiful and the staff are friendly. Kevin will go out of his way to help you. The small town of Mattawa is only 10 mins away. I highly recommend a visit to Lazy Rock.

Viewed the Property on a Whim
We decided to go for a 3 hour drive from Midland, ON that day after seeing the MLS listing, before contacting any realtors. We put in a firm offer hours later and our home was on the market 3 days after that...

We took possession of the property a month and a half later, and started going to work immediately to bring out the natural beauty that just needed a little love put back into it.

In 2020, with the introduction of social distancing, we decided to provide a service unlike any other campground we’d heard of…. All of the products and services we offer are available to purchase from your smartphone, tablet or laptop from anywhere on the park – using our free wifi – and we will deliver your items right to your site within 30 minutes!

Terry Jr gets a refresh! This was our first rental trailer and well loved! In the process it is converted to more suit couples. We also added a tiny electric fireplace in the bedroom. 🙂

First five years of business!
The first 5 years of our business plan concludes, and we are on to our 6th season! Our new master plan is in development, and the next five years we hope are going to be awesome! Constantly re-investing into the park, we are confident our guests will love the additions and modifications we are planning for the next five years.
